Meeting Segu
dark hero“Children, come here please”. a loud voice was heard across the orphanage.
“We are going ‘Mama’ ” said a lot of voices.
‘Mama’ is the name these children call to her, of course, she is not their mother, but since she loves them as her sons and daughters, the children reciprocate by calling this affectionate name to her.
The children started arriving at the entrance hall where two people were waiting, one of them was “Mama” a burly woman with big arms who could embrace and protect the children, people that don’t know her would think she was harmless, and well, in fact, she is… unless it’s anything related to the children.
For the children, she is like a giant teddy bear that you want to hug and snuggle. But some know that she can become an immobile shield that will keep them away from any danger.
Some years ago an international human trafficking organization tried to kidnap some of the kids, but what they did not count on their plans was the existence of Mama, for them, she was just a fat useless woman. Five of them entered the orphanage, and while going to the kids’ rooms, to pick their prey, they didn’t notice that the only pray in there was them, armed with just a frying pan and that mountain body of hers, she instantly knocked out 2 with two fast hits on their heads, starting to run against the other three.
You can imagine how the other kidnappers were scared seeing 2 of their partners getting so easily subdued and then watching a mass of pure power with more than one hundred kilograms coming their way. Two of them escaped using the windows, and the third one took a knife from his pocket pointing it at “Mama”, she just sneered seeing this and kept running to him.
“You crazy woman you will get hurt!” said the kidnapper desperately as a last resort to try to stop her.
“Like I care! You tried to harm my babies, I don’t care what happens to my body but my soul would never be able to recover if something happened to them”.
‘Mama’ finally arrived at the kidnapper hitting him at full power, unfortunately, the knife also trespassed completely her left arm, but she withstood the pain and with her right side she hugged the man the same way a piton embraces her pray, starting to break his bones with her pure strength, this man would never walk again in this world.
“Yes, run you cowards. Run as far as you can, if I ever catch you will never escape!” roared “Mama”.
She was not stupid, she knew they would come back since what she had fought was just some small fry that underestimated her, so she asked for help from the orphanage patrons.
One week later when the organization tried to get revenge, they couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw over 10 armed to-the-teeth men working as security guards, plus some strange devices they couldn’t even discern what they were for, they had no other choice than to relinquish their thirst for vengeance and leave it for a later time. However, so far that opportunity never arrived.
And the person responsible for this massive security is the father of the second person in the hall.
A pretty girl, so frail appearing that if a simple air current came she would fly like a dandelion, with hair orange as the scorching sun and porcelain skin.
She was wearing a simple pink knee-length dress and a pair of plain white and pink sneakers. She looked like a young fairy.

“Children, she is Segu, daughter of Mister Brown our biggest helper, he paid for all the toys you play with and the clothes you have, among other things, he is a good man.
Her father and mother are out of the country on business and asked if she could play with you all during this month, she will be coming here a lot of times during this month” explained “Mama” to the children.
“Everyone introduce yourself to young miss.”
One by one the children started introducing themselves, most of them couldn’t even look her in the eyes just staring at the floor, some of them because she was so beautiful and others were just scared of offending her by accident and bringing trouble to the orphanage, and the ones who could do it was just a small glimpse looking to the floor or somewhere else again.
This kept going until it arrived the turn of a 7-year-old skinny and slender kid with dark hair as a moonless night and deep green eyes that seemed to hold an entire universe inside, he was Nezu.
He looked her in the eyes and emotionless said: “Hello, I’m Nezu”.
Segu felt something strange in him, he showed no emotions and was able to look her straight in the eyes something that even some adults couldn’t also he looked unaffected by her background. ‘who is he?’ she thought.
“You are not afraid of me? You are the first people of my age who can look me in the eyes and be unafraid,” she asked.
“Why should I be afraid? You are a kid like me, and from what ‘Mama’ said your family is also good people so I have nothing to be afraid” said again in an emotionless way Nezu.
At that moment Segu felt extremely happy to find someone with who she could finally play and talk.
She knew her father looked for so much time for someone who she could play with, but every single kid would be afraid of her.
‘I´m not alone anymore, I don’t have to keep playing only with an adult’, she thought and felt so extremely relieved to find a playmate that instantly replied to Segu “Hey, let’s play?”
“Sure, what do you want to play?”
“Anything is fine, you choose.”
“Ok, follow me then.”
The children paved the way to let Nezu and Segu pass while being watched by ‘Mama’.
A sturdy man that no one noticed near the entrance approached ‘Mama’ and asked ‘Miss Sarah is everything ok with this kid? He looks strange”’
‘Mama’ replied “Yes, everything is fine he looks strange because for some reason he can’t show his emotions, you can’t see them but you know they are there, you can see it by his actions, he is probably above every single child in here and he has a big heart. He is always looking for ways to help the staff in the kitchen, cleaning, and doing other chores I think if he could, he would help with every single task, of course, I don´t let him, after all, he is just a kid, he also needs to play and be with other children”
“Good, very good I´m happy that young Miss can finally play with other children since she was adopted 7 years ago, she never played with other children for some reason they were always scared of her and we don’t know why. Boss will be happy with this news” said the man with a smile from ear to ear. To him, this young miss was very important since her adoption he was hired to protect her, and in 7 years a strong connection between the two was formed.
‘Mama’ pondered a little, then replied “Strange, Nezu is like the young miss, everyone is also scared of him, we also don’t know why every time he tries to play with other children they avoid him not even the children can explain why”.
‘Mama’ continued “If they were not so different physically I would say they were originally from the same family, but it’s impossible”.
‘Miss Sarah, can I follow them now?’
‘Sure, mister Jon already warned me that you would always be near Miss Segu, just don’t scare the other children please” said ‘Mama’ in a calm voice.
After hearing the positive response the bodyguard hurriedly followed Segu and Nezu.
