Brown Family
dark heroNear the foothills of a mountain there was a big wall embracing a green forest with a stone road in the middle, if you followed that way you would find a imponent pond with a statue with 2 fish’s tangled together with a big letter B engraved between them, inside the pond you could see koi fish swimming.
In front of the pond, there was an imposing 2 floors mansion that stretched widely as far as the eyes could see. If you looked around, you could spot a tennis court and a large swimming pool with a water slide. And if you listened closely, you could hear the neighing of horses.
But what truly grabbed everyone’s attention was the helicopter on the roof, just finishing its landing.
A couple left the heli, the woman had a perfectly shaped body and if you looked from closer you would notice that she was the business woman that received Steve message, from the pilots cabin a elegant man with dark unruly hair, black branded glasses, a goatee beard and a tailor maid suits with big letter B on his cufflinks was walking to the nearest door.
Waiting for them was a small army of maids and security guards, and a chubby Butler in front of them.
“Welcome home, Mr and Mrs Brown” said the butler.
“Peter, I already told you to stop with all these formalities, please ask Steveto go to the library. I will be waiting for him there,” said Mr Brown while also scolding the butler for so many unnecessary formalities.
“Mr Brown, you already know my Butler training doesn’t allow me to comply with that request, Mr Steve will go to the library shortly.”
“Peter, is Segu home?” asked Mrs. Brown, with a clear longing in her voice.
“Madame Brown, young miss SEGU, it’s in her room.”
“Jon, I will be going ahead to Segu room, I leave everything to you.”
“Yes, darling, go ahead, I will handle everything, I will pass on Segu room later”, replied Mr Brown.
Mrs brown whispered something in Peter’s ear, leaving his expression switching between surprised and happy.
“Really, Madam?”
“Yes, really,” said Mrs brown while giving a big smile.
Peter looked to the maids and ordered, “Come all with me, we have a lot of work to do.”
Steve received the message and walked to the library. He entered, and inside, he saw a two-story room with two wooden stairs. In every wall, there were bookshelves and a sea of books. In the middle of the library, there was a beautiful wooden and leather-carved sofa, and there were also two reclining sofas similar to the big couch.
In one of the couches, Jon was waiting for Steve with a glass of whiskey in his right hand.
“Good night, Boss, do you know if you had a Cuban cigar in the other hand, you would be a movie cliche.”
“I see that my absence improved you’re sense of humor, you know I don’t smoke, now tell me everything that happened while I was away”
‘Is there one inside my own house who treats me by my name?’ muttered Jon to himself.
“Ok, Boss.”
Steve began recounting everything he remembered—from Nezu’s fearless introduction to their strange conversations, their panda fight, and the countless board games they played. He described Nezu in every detail he could recall. But what he spent the most time talking about was Nezu’s impressive perception and reflexes, which had left him deeply impressed.
While listening to Steve talking, Jon’s expression varied between happy, surprised, amused, and slightly angry when he heard about the goodbye kisses.
“Segu and this kid had a funny and happy month together.”
“I just have one question for you, Steve: do you trust him? Would you trust Segu’s life to him?” Jon asked in a firm voice.
“Yes, Boss, I think if they wanted to hurt young miss with Nezu present, they would first need to pass by him, and trust me by personal experience that would not be easy now, and would be near impossible when he grows up”. Steve answered in a confident tone.
“Good, very good, do you have Nezu DNA results with you”?
“Yes, they are here,” replied Steve while passing a closed envelope to his boss.
“Jon opened the envelope and began reading it, muttering to himself, ‘Interesting… very interesting.’”
“Boss, can I know the results? Are they related in some way?”
“Sure, replying to your question, yes and no”.
“Boss, pls don’t tease me and explain”.
“This was the payback for the cigar joke, Steve. Well, I can tell you with 100% insurance that they are not related, Segu’s biological parents are from the nordic people of Europe, but Nezu’s parents are a mix between the German and Japanese.” answered truthfully JON to Steve’s question.
“Then how are they related?” asked Steve, confused.
“There are only 3 people in this house that know what is wrong with Segu, only you, me, and Diana know that there is 0.1% of Segu DNA that can’t be identified. You also know that I searched the world for someone with the same ‘problem’. Well, we finally found someone. Nezu is the same as Segu, and the connection he talked about is most likely because of this 0.1%.”
“What?!?” said a perplexed Steve.
“Now you know it, I’m going to Segu room, you are dismissed, Steve.”
“Good night, Boss”, said Steve while withdrawing from the library.
When Jon arrived at the Segu room, he could hear her talking with Diana, and decided to stay outside eavesdropping on the mother and daughter.
Segu was lying down with her head in Diana’s thighs while getting gently caressed on the head.
“And then that scoundrel gave me a panda eye,” Segu said. As she spoke, Diana remembered the photo, and now, she was finally hearing the story behind it.
SEGU kept telling her story to every single detail, Steve’s story couldn’t rival in any way with the level of detail of Segu’s story.
Diana could feel how much these memories meant to Segu and again felt reassured of her decision.
“Darling, come in, I know you are there.”
‘Busted,’ thought Jon.
“Segu, sweetie, please get up. Your father and I have something to ask you.”
“What is mother?”
While holding Jon’s hand, she asked: “Segu, do you want a brother?”
“What… a brother? Do you mean Nezu? Yes, yes … please let him be me, my brother,” said Segu, embracing her parents.
“Thank you, mother, thank you, father,” said with a smile able to eclipse the sun while an endless stream of tears fell from her beautiful blue eyes.
“Darling, now it’s all in your hands. Bring him home tomorrow,” said Diana in a commanding voice to JON.
“Consider it done, Darling.”
“Now let’s all go to sleep. Today was a very tiring and eventful day for everyone.”
“Tomorrow you are going with me, Segu.”
“Yes, father.” Segu happily replied.
